Wisconsin Travel and Wisconsin Camping

If you are looking for an exciting outdoor adventure while in Wisconsin then you will want to check out the fabulous camping facilities Wisconsin has to offer! Bring along all your friends and family in your Wisconsin car rental and spend the night under the stars in one of the 4600 campsites located in Wisconsin's state parks and forests.

Whether your Wisconsin car rental travels take you to the south end or north end of the state, you will find equally stunning scenery and rolling hills that will be the backdrop to your camping adventures. Since there are so many different camp grounds you can explore, it is difficult to summarize exactly what each offers. However, what you will find is that most of the typical campsites are located in a beautiful natural setting with road access, a fire ring and picnic tables and welcome both vehicle or tent campers. You will also find backpack, walk-in, and canoe-in sites, sites with electrical hookups, and sites designed specifically for either tent or vehicle campers. Some sites are even devoted for people with horses, while others can accommodate large groups of campers.

Reservations

Before arriving to your campsite in your Wisconsin car rental, you will need to make reservations at the camping grounds you where you plan to stay. It is suggested you make reservations during the park or forests' busy time which is usually spring through fall, and most of the summer. If you plan on going during the 'off-season', you can most likely get a campsite without a reservation. If you are planning your vacation in advance you can book your Wisconsin car rental and campsite at the same time. Generally, you can reserve a specific site 11 months in advance or if your plans are last minute, you can reserve as late as two days before you arrive.

There is also reservation fee, which is approximately $10 and a $5 fee for any cancellations.

Fees

Camping fees vary with campground amenities, day of the week, season, and campers' residency. For State Parks, Southern Forests, Recreation Areas, and Trails you can expect to pay anywhere from $10-$15 if you are a Wisconsin resident or $12-$17 if you are a non-resident. For Northern Forest Campgrounds, prices are slightly less at $9-$12 for residents and $11-$14 for non-residents.
