And visiting with your car rental in Wisconsin has never been easier.

Ice and water

18,000 years ago when the glaciers retreated, they left behind deep lake basins in the Midwest. However, the first account of this particular lake comes form 1831 because it was not on the river and lake highway system used at the time. Before that, the Oneota Tribes of the lost Hopewell Culture had lived in the area and enjoyed an advanced agricultural society of the banks of the lake. Their mark can still be seen here at the effigy mounds in what is now Liberty park with your car rental in Wisconsin.

The area was first colonized in 1835 when John Brink, a government surveyor, came to the area and claimed a powerful waterfall in the adjacent land. He named the lake after the lake in his home town, Geneva, New York. A visit to the dams and canal that feed the mills that were later built here is a great trip with your car rental in Wisconsin.

By 1840, there were two hotels in the area, as well as a number of shops and cabins. The area was beginning to grow! After the Civil War, the area became a resort for wealthy Chicago families, becoming the Newport of the West.
