History of the Milwaukee County Zoo
The Milwaukee County Zoo began its prosperous journey back in 1892, when a small animal display was exhibited in the city's downtown Washington Park. Within ten years the Zoo had expanded to cover some 23 acres, showcasing over 800 different animals! By 1934 the Milwaukee Count Park Commission took control of the Zoo, providing it with a variety of resources and local support. In 1958 the Zoo was moved from its home in Washington Park to its current location on West Blue Mound Road. Today the Milwaukee County Zoo is hailed as one of the nation's top institutions and is highly accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association. Directions to the Milwaukee County Zoo

- From the North ' Mayfair Rent-A-Car encourages you to follow Highway 45 South until turning off at I-94 West (towards Madison). Follow I-94 to Highway 100 North (exit number 304B). Once on Highway 100 North look for the first stop light and turn right. You will now be on Blue Mound Road heading West ' stay in the right lane for 8 blocks and you'll soon see the zoo entrance!
- From the South ' Getting to the Milwaukee County Zoo is quick and easy when traveling from South; simply take Highway 45 North until you see the Blue Mound Road ext (exit number 39). Follow the exit to the first set of stop lights and turn right. The zoo will come into view on your left after about one block.

- The Milwaukee County Zoo currently house five separate continental groupings including North America, South America, Africa, Australia and Asia. There are also two farm complexes ' the Stackner Heritage Farm and The Dairy Complex.
