Soar to the Stars

Opening in November 2006, the Daniel M. Soref Planetarium will take you on a trip to the stars in Wisconsin's largest and most current dome theater. With a full-color laser projection system and high resolution, you can have the chance to see the night sky and the planets of our solar system. With state-of-the-art digital imaging and large surround sound, you can experience the Milky Way and all that the universe encompasses. Wisconsin car rental customers can also enjoy an IMAX movie at the museum. You can choose between "Fighter Pilot", "Magnificent Desolation" and "Aliens of the Deep". Depending on your mood, you can see a film about a young American fighter pilot, a walk on the moon or alien life in its natural surroundings. Prices for the regular IMAX films range from $5.50-$8 for general admission and $4-$6 for members. For feature films general admission is anywhere from $9-$10 and members pay $8-$9. The Milwaukee Public Museum is open Mon-Sat from 9am-5pm. It is also open on Sundays from noon-5pm. The Museum is closed on the 4th of July, Christmas Eve, Christmas and Thanksgiving. Admission to the Museum is $9 for adults (ages 16-61), $8 for seniors (62 and over) and $6 for kids (ages 3-15). Admission is free for kids under 2, museum members with membership card and AAM, ASTC, AASLH and ICOM members with membership card.
