Wisconsin Travel and the Milwaukee Grain Exchange

The Milwaukee Grain Exchange was Milwaukee's global trading room for many years. Today it is an elegant reception room that seat 500 people. Famous people such as President Bill Clinton have dined here, with its gourmet menu and beautiful setting.

Milwaukee

Milwaukee is the largest city in the state of Wisconsin, and the 22nd largest in the United States. There is a lot to explore here with a Milwaukee car rental. It is most associated with the Miller Brewing Company, but that makes up only a small portion of the economy. Milwaukee is home to the Milwaukee Art Museum, which has recently gained recognition for the new white concrete Quadracci Pavilion and the first American commission by artist Santiago Calatrava. There is also the performing arts: The Florentine Opera, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and the Milwaukee Ballet are among some of the great performers in the area. For sports fans, there are the Milwaukee Brewers (baseball), the Bucks (basketball), and the Admirals (hockey). You can catch a game while here with your Milwaukee car rental. Finally, there is the social life in Milwaukee. It is know as the 'City of Festivals', with the annul lakefront Summerfest, which is the world's largest music festival.

Milwaukee County Zoo

The Milwaukee County Zoological Gardens is the zoo in the area, housing 2500 animals on 200 acres. The zoo is noted for first birth of polar bears and siamangs in captivity. It is also home to one of the largest group of bonobos. A trip to the zoo is a great idea with your family in a Milwaukee car rental.

Summerfest

For those traveling in Milwaukee with a Milwaukee car rental in the summer, Summerfest is the yearly music festival held at the Henry Maier Festival Park on the lake. Summerfest runs for 11 days from late June though early July over the 4th of July and attracts almost one million. Live musical acts are offered on 13 stages throughout the grounds, including the 24,000-seat Marcus Amphitheater. All shows are free, except for the headliners at the Amphitheater. There is also a lot of food here, as well as carnival rides and games, comedy acts, shopping booths, fireworks, karaoke, children's activities, and more. Notable bands who have played here include Destiny's Child, Tim McGraw, Eric Clapton, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder, The Doors, Weezer, Britney Spears, and many more. Be sure to check out Summerfest if you are in the area with a Milwaukee car rental.

Interesting Note

Many area residents refer to a drinking fountain as a 'bubbler' and ATMs as a 'Tyme Machine' because the name of the dominant ATM network was formally Tyme.

Enjoy your stay in Milwaukee and be sure to check out the Milwaukee Grain Exchange with your Milwaukee car rental.
