History of Lakefront Brewery

This microbrewery was established in 1987 and specializes in handmade beers, keeping in the tradition of early Milwaukee brewers. Lakefront Brewery is famous for its award winning suds including:

Riverwest Stein, Eastside Dark, Creamy City Pale Ale, Klish Pilsner, Organic Extra Special Bitters, Fuel Coffee Stout. Lakefront Brewery also features seasonal beers such as Pumpkin Beer, Holiday Spice, Bock, Beer Line Bariety Wine, and Cherry Beer. Lakefront Cherry Lagar - An American style fruit beer made with Wisconsin's Door County cooking cherries and lager yeast. The tartness of the cherry is balanced with the sweetness from the 2-row barley and the flavoring of Mt. Hood hops.

Pumpkin Lager - The Pumpkin Lager is brewed with pumpkins in the mash, spices added during the boil, and lightly hopped. The rich specialty grains and lager fermentation combine to produce the taste and the texture of pumpkin pie. An excellent example of Lakefront's seasonals.

Organic Extra Special Bitters - Straw colored with a mild amount of shopping. The malt bill is comprised of two row, Munich, and caramel that is flavored with organic German Perle hops.

Holiday Spice Lager Beer - Timed to coincide with the holiday season, a very special lager is brewed with honey, oranges, and spices. This beer uses two pounds of honey per pound of malt in its brew, making it an exceptional fortified holiday specialty beer which will keep for years. The spices and hops balance the sweetness of the honey and malt to give this lightly hopped beer its perfect flavor.

Golden Maple Root Beer - Don't Forget Lakefront's Golden Maple root beer. Delicate in flavor & golden in color Golden Maple root beer is a non-alcoholic beer made from delicious Wisconsin maple syrup-a refreshing, tribute to Wisconsin's golden Sugar Maples.

Fuel Coffee Flavored Stout - This ale is a marriage of two savoury beverages, Lakefront Stout and Fuel Cafe blend Alterra coffee. The body of the stout is brought about by the perfect blend of five specialty grains and generous use of two row malted barley. The light hopping of the stout brings out it's malty sweetness which complements the Fuel Cafe coffee flavor to bring about a rich satisfying taste. The coffee used in the beer is the same house blend that is used at the Fuel Cafe and is roasted by Alterra Coffee right here in Milwaukee. For this brew, Lakefront uses its brewing kettles to make the largest coffee pot in Milwaukee.

Lakefront Brewery Tours

The Lakefront Brewery offers free parking for your car rental in Milwaukee, so there is no need to worry when you arrive for your tour. The facility is also wheelchair accessible in order to welcome as many visitors as possible. The tour itself is only $5.00 but if you are underage, with your parents, or do not drink alcohol then you can sample the Golden Maple root beer for $2.00. Your $5 will receive 4 tokens and a nice heavy 16 oz. glass with the Lakefront Logo on it to keep. The tokens can also be used for the root beer. This tour is unlike the tours you would experience at a large brewery. There are only a handful of employees at this small brewery so they each know how to do all of the jobs. The staff will entertain and inform you at the same time. Try to arrive a little early in your car rental in Milwaukee because once you pay for the tour, you can begin sampling the beer!
