With a population of just over 30,000 people this growing city is located in southeastern Milwaukee, just 74 miles from the state capital. Formed from the town of Kinnickinnic in 1838 this community was named after the American patriot Benjamin Franklin. Franklin was originally forested with a variety of hardwood trees like butternut, walnut and hickory, while an abundance of wild animals roamed the area including bears, deer and panthers. By 1841 this little community had grown and organized itself into a township, even though life proved to be a bit primitive at times. Today Franklin is a thriving town filled with friendly neighbors and exciting business opportunities.
