TRAVEL GUIDE

Wisconsin Travel and Dairyland Greyhound Park

Dairyland Greyhound Park is a horse racing track in Kenosha, Wisconsin, good for Wisconsin travel. Programs are provided when you come to the races a program is provided for you. Matinee programs are found at the top, and evening programs are found at the bottom. If you are over 18, you can bet on the races as they happen.

Wagers

After you have read the probability of winning and ready to place your bets, go to the Mutuel window and state the amount you want to wager. The minimum is $2. Then give the bet type (win, place, show, quiniela, trifecta, etc.). Then list your choices of greyhounds by number. Have your money ready to make the process faster, and check your ticket before leaving the window to make sure it is correct. Hold your ticket until the race has been declared "official".

Racing Terminology

In order to make the most of your time at the park and your Wisconsin travel adventure, knowing the terminology helps. A "win" means the greyhound must finish first for you to collect the payout. A "place" means your greyhound must finish first or second to collect the payout. A "show" means your greyhound places first, second, or third. A "daily double" means you select the winner of the first and second races. This must be done before the first race. A "quiniela" means you select the first two greyhounds across the finish line, in any order. There are more types of quinielas, but they get more complicated as you bet on more horses. This might want to be saved until you have a few races under your belt. A "perfecta" is when you select two greyhounds that finish first and second in that order. There are also more types of perfectas that get more complicated as you increase the number of greyhounds you bet on. A "trifecta" is when you select three greyhounds that finish in first, second, and third place in that exact order. As you feel more comfortable with the betting process, you will be able to learn more of the terminology. Or, if you decide to not place bets and just enjoy the race, then sit back and enjoy the show during your Wisconsin travel adventure!
