Wisconsin Travel and Apostle Islands National Lakeshore
Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is home to Wisconsin's paradise. Situated on gorgeous Wisconsin's northernmost landscape on Lake Superior, it's a haven for kayak lovers, lighthouse lovers, and all lovers of the outdoors. This ancestral home to the Ojibwa people is ideal for Wisconsin travel as it is situated off Wisconsin Route 13 near Bayfield. The visitors centre is the main jump off point, and is only 13 miles north of Bayfield, Wisconsin.

From the visitors centre, tourists can venture off to many points of interest, whether they are accessible by land and or water. The Islands, however, are the main point of interest for tourists. The islands can be accessed by boat trips running from mid may to late October, so they are great for summer Wisconsin travel. The Apostle Islands Cruise offer many different trips, so hiker and camper have much to choose from. The views of dramatic cliffs and wonderful lighthouses are an added treat to the boat trips. Travelers looking for unique trips can acquire a water taxi from Bayfield to any island. As well, one can rent a sail boat or motor boat from one of the local marinas to create their own wondrous trip that makes Wisconsin travel so great. Of course you could also bring your own boat if you own one.
While traveling to the Apostle Islands you can enjoy sailing, boating, sea kayaking, camping (permit required), hiking, picnicking, swimming, scuba diving (permit required), excursion cruises, sport fishing and hunting (state licenses required), cross country, and the many museums and shops in the area.
This great park is also great for Wisconsin travel because of its famous fishing. Come during the warmer months and enjoy beautiful trout and salmon fishing. Trolling (dragging lures behind a boat) is probably the most popular and successful method of catching trout and salmon in the Apostle Islands. Many marinas in the area will offer boats with trolling capabilities for hire
Winter is also fabulous here in the Apostle Islands to know when planning your Wisconsin travel possibly from November to March. Activities include snowmobiling, hunting, snow shoeing, and camping among many other great things.
Apostle Islands National Park includes 21 islands in the waters of Lake Superior. It is 69,372 acres. The best way to take advantage of all of this great territory in your Wisconsin travels is to hop aboard the Island Princess which around all 21 islands in three hours. It is accessible from Bayfield Marina, and offers meals for hungry travelers.
